TED-Ed - Benefits of Learning Music

November 20, 2017

Here is a great video by TED-Ed explaining the wonder and important benefits of learning how to play music.

There are many proven benefits of playing the music. It is not only about playing a tune or two, but there are many great health and overall benefits one can reap all with having fun at the same time.

You will need an experienced, thoughtful teacher to really take advantage of these benefits. A good piano teacher will help you understand how to play the piano, keep you motivated, capitalize on these benefits and all while having fun at the same time.

SOME OF THE BENEFITS

  • Reduce stress and anxiety.

  • Improves cognitive abilities, fine motor skills, and neural connections.

  • Better coordination.

  • Overall improve academic performance.

  • Boost self-esteem.

  • Improve memory and keeps the brain "fit".

  • Can positively affect mental health. Reduce sense of loneliness.

  • Aids in language development.

  • Inspires creativity.

  • Can increase Human Growth Hormone and reduce pain in adults.

  • Split concentration and focus on many things at once.
